Maybe you've heard the saying, "What if the only things you woke up with this morning were the things you thanked God for yesterday?" Thought provoking!
The Word tells us:
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)
Isn't it interesting how anxiety and gratitude are presented as opposites, and exchanging thankful supplication to God for "it depends on me" anxiety is crucial to having unexplainable peace, as well as protection for our minds and hearts in Christ?
So as practice of this concept, I am trying something throughout my day. As often as possible, I'm being consciously thoughtful and thankful for every little thing I have or am doing. "Thank you, Lord, for these eggs I'm cooking for breakfast. Thank you for our hens that laid them. Thank you for a pan to cook them in, a stove to cook them on, the gas for the stove, the spatula to flip them with, a plate to put them on when they're done...." It's unending! Each little thing to be grateful for always reminds me of multiple more things for which to be thankful.
Let me know how this helps you shift your thinking, become more aware of God's goodness and abundant blessing, and help in overcoming anxiety or "lack"-based thinking!
